1966 RHD Splitscreen Canterbury Pitt - Campervan Crisis Mk.2 !

Post by McRod » Tue Jan 28, 2020 11:00 am

Make yourself comfortable folks and join me on a journey that involves possibly the worst basket case of a splitty "project" you`ll have ever seen.

During this journey i hope to educate some of you on the perils of buying a running resto that was mot`d as recently as 3 years previous to purchase. :D

It came as a recommendation from someone very well respected on the scene and bought by myself from pictures!.

I`ll share with you my progress so far and feel free to gasp in horror as it slowly unravels. :P :D

As it rolled off the transporter, my heart began to sink.

It quickly became apparent that the "usual 8 inches need replacing" actually meant 8" from the gutters down. :o

At this point some of you might want to look away, or at least have the children leave the room...

The more we stripped, the more i realised that everything that was once metal was needing repaired.

There was not one salvageble metal part left on the body that didn`t need repaired or replaced.

The realisation of what lay ahead was emotional to say the least. :? :D

At this point, the only saving grace for it was the knowledge that it might be valuable once it`s finished.

I decided to push on and get it shot blasted.

This was another horror show when the years of botched welding and fibre glass camouflage simply vanished in a cloud of dust...

You must have access to some serious strength brave pills, amazed it didn't collapse under its own weight. That welding takes abysmal to a whole new level.
Bring on the next installment
